HOW IS
high blood pressure treated?

In the majority of cases, high blood pressure in cats is associated with an underlying disease. The most common two being chronic kidney disease or hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid).

Your vet may check for these, or other diseases, so they can be treated appropriately.

Treating the underlying cause alone is often not enough to bring blood pressure down to the normal range. Therefore, medicine to reduce blood pressure is normally required.
